Bio
Kami Banks, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.C., F.A.S.E., is a fellowship-trained cardiologist with board certification in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. Her areas of specialized training include cardiovascular disease prevention, hypertension, and cardiac imaging.
Dr. Banks received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Austin College. Her interest in cardiovascular disease prevention lead her to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Health degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center as well as postgraduate training at the Cooper Clinic.
She completed her medical school training, internal medicine residency, and cardiovascular fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Banks then joined the faculty where she served as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology, medical director of the Cardiology Outreach Clinic in Richardson, Texas and cardiovascular liaison for a local professional athletic organization. Dr. Banks has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and delivered several invited lectures related to cardiovascular disease prevention, heart disease in high risk populations, angina in women and coronary artery calcium testing.
Dr. Banks’ broad and diverse clinical interests include: cardiovascular disease prevention, cardiovascular imaging, hypertension, lipid management, coronary artery disease, women’s cardiovascular disease, athlete’s heart disease, the effect of cancer therapy on the cardiovascular system, arrhythmias and heart failure.
Dr. Banks is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (F.A.C.C) and American Society of Echocardiography (F.A.S.E.). She also holds professional memberships with the American Heart Association and American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.
In her downtime, Dr. Banks enjoys sports, traveling and spending time with family.
