Infectious Disease Sub-specialty Education Coordinator
Dr. Cheryl McDonald is a founding partner of Tarrant County Infectious Disease Associates, and is the infectious disease sub-specialty education coordinator for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
Dr. McDonald was born and raised in Fort Worth. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, where she graduated magna cum laude, and earned her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her infectious disease fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver, where she was on faculty. She is board-certified in infectious disease.
Dr. McDonald enjoys caring for patients of diverse backgrounds, and is active in supporting the HIV community. She has served on the board of directors for the AIDS Outreach Center since 2007 and conducts multi-center trials. Dr. McDonald is deeply committed to the community of Fort Worth and has served in numerous leadership capacities at Texas Health Fort Worth, including serving as chief of medical staff and as a member of the board of trustees. She has been featured as one of Fort Worth Magazine’s “Top Doctors” for many years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading and travelling.
