Bio
Salah Aoun, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in minimally invasive and complex reconstructive spine surgery.
Dr. Aoun earned his medical degree at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon. He performed his residency in neurosurgery at UT Southwestern, where he also received advanced fellowship training in complex spine surgery. In addition, he has completed research fellowships at Northwestern University and UT Southwestern.
He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2020.
Dr. Aoun’s research focuses on degenerative spine disease, comprehensive multidisciplinary spine care, and traumatic brain injury.
He is the author of more than 90 peer-reviewed publications, as well as numerous book chapters, lectures, and editorials on neurosurgery and spine surgery. He serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for leading national and international scholarly journals and as a co-editor of the book Essential Papers in Neurosurgery, published by the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Aoun is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
