Andrew Gelfand, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of Pediatric Respiratory Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He specializes in asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and chronic ventilation in children.
Dr. Gelfand earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in pediatrics. He received advanced training in pediatric pulmonology through a fellowship at the National Jewish Center and University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2009.
Dr. Gelfand is a prolific author of articles pertaining to pediatric pulmonology, and he’s a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, and the American Thoracic Society.
Dr. Gelfand has been named a D Magazine Best Doctor every year since the publication began its list, as well as a Texas Monthly Super Doctor every year since 2008.
