Bio
Although Dr. Shane Alexander recently called New York City “home”, he is a native Texan. He earned his medical degree and a Master of Public Health at the UNTHSC Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine/School of Public Health in Fort Worth. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, where he also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Alexander completed his fellowship training in Infectious Diseases from the esteemed Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City. He is board-certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases.
Dr. Alexander’s areas of special focus and research include exploration of the patterns of infectious diseases in cancer patients and investigating factors that impact outcomes in opportunistic fungal infections. As an advocate for infection control and antimicrobial stewardship, Dr. Alexander has served on several related committees during his residency and fellowship training.
He is a member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society, Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.
