Umair Sohail, MD Gastroenterology, Internal Medicinein Plano, TX

Dr. Umair Sohail is a board-certified gastroenterologist with additional board certification in transplant hepatology and obesity medicine. His area of focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of common and complex disorders of the digestive system and liver, colon cancer care, and treatment of metabolic disorders. Dr. Sohail uses minimally invasive endoscopy, colonoscopy, and other techniques to promote improved GI, liver, and colon health. He provides compassionate, cutting-edge care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Dr. Sohail earned his medical degree in Pakistan and completed his internal medicine residency at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He went on to complete a transplant hepatology fellowship at the University of Tennessee-Memphis before completing his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He served as chief fellow during his final year in fellowship training.

Dr. Sohail previously worked as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Program Director of Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Tyler, Texas. Dr. Sohail is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and American College of Physicians. He is also a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Away from the office, Dr. Sohail enjoys spending time with family, running, biking, and playing and watching soccer and tennis.
