Bio
Jose Escobar, M.D., spent five years in the Phoenix, Ariz., area pursuing his general surgery residency training, before coming to Texas to further advance his skills. He went on to complete his thoracic surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a Diplomat of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery with special interests that include adult cardiac surgery, minimally invasive thoracic surgery and lung cancer screening program.
Prior to founding CVT Surgical Associates of Denton, Escobar served as the medical director of Thoracic Surgery and Cardiovascular Surgery for Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine for six years. He graduated Cum Laude from Texas A&M University in College Station with a bachelor’s degree in biology and earned his medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock.
Escobar is well-published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography and Circulation on such topics as detection of myocardial perfusion defects and the safety and efficacy of fluorocarbon-based echocardiographic contrast agents. He is a member of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, American Board of Surgery, Cardiothoracic Surgery Network, and Society of Thoracic Surgery.
In his free time, Escobar enjoys playing golf and spending time with his family.
