Bio

David S. Harper, M.D., F.A.C.C. practices general and invasive cardiology with Presbyterian Heart & Vascular Group, and is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, N.C., Dr. Harper attended medical school at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he also completed his internship and residency. He then completed his cardiology fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Dr. Harper participates actively in the internal medicine teaching program at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. His areas of expertise include preventive cardiology, echocardiography, valvular heart disease, coronary artery disease, nuclear cardiology and heart rhythm management. Dr. Harper and his wife Courtney have four children.

David Spencer Harper is an extraordinarily gifted cardiologist. He listens deeply to your own words, never veering his eyes from yours. He asks detailed questions, puts your answers into his computer without looking away, and continues asking other questions. His exam is thorough and brief, his conversation and suggestions for moving ahead both practical and thoughtful. I would not trade this man for any other cardiologist on this earth!!

I gave a fair rating because this was my initial visit and the sheet that was given to me to fill out about my symptoms, none of the symptoms were addressed or discussed with me. The doctor basically told me in a nice way that I was fat and needed to regularly check my blood pressure. He is a cardiologist but he never discussed with me about what blood pressure does to the heart. He never talked with me about prevention care. He asked me has I always had high blood pressure and I told him no and told him I think it's from menopause. He never talked to me about what could be causing my high blood pressure. He never discussed with me how long I had to be on the medication. [...] I didn't leave with any clear answers of next steps.

The Texas Health Heart office is beyond wonderful: for thirty years David Harper has been advising us about our health, first with his father, and then for the last two decades by himself. He is beyond wonderful by every description of the word: observations, warnings, advice, encouragement, and above all empathy for the obstacles confronting the patient. We would trust no ther person to take care of us!
