Bio
Dr. James Choi has been caring for Texas hearts since 2004. He is fellowship-trained in interventional cardiology. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology. Dr. Choi’s areas of clinical interest and focus include cardiovascular disease in diabetic patients; highly complex cardiology interventions: left main coronary artery and chronic total occlusions; valvular heart interventions; structural heart interventions: ASD/PFO/Left atrial appendage closure; and peripheral vascular disease. He has published numerous articles and conducted clinical research on coronary stent implantation and chronic total occlusions as well as novel renal artery denervation treatment for resistant hypertension.
Dr. Choi earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, where he also completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology. He is the current medical director of Coronary, Renal and Structural Heart Technologies for the Baylor Research Institute in Dallas. He previously served as an associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine in College Station and as the director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Dr. Choi is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions. He currently chairs the DFW AngioClub and is a member of the American Heart Association, Texas Medical Association and Dallas County Medical Association. Dr. Choi has sat on numerous advisory boards, completed clinical research into various devices and cardiovascular procedures, and is active in the Korean-American medical community.
