Bio
To say Dr. M. Hassan Pervaiz is a board-certified interventional cardiologist is to only capture a small fraction of his career in medicine. His years of training and experience encompass research, teaching, and clinical and national committee involvement in vascular and endovascular medicine, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, vascular interpretation, cardiac CT, structural and valvular heart disease interventions, and cardiovascular angiography and interventions.
In all, Dr. Pervaiz holds eight board certifications. He is also certified as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. Dr. Pervaiz is an elected Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, and Society for Vascular Medicine. His areas of special interest and focus include the treatment of adult coronary artery disease and heart failure; minimally invasive structural heart disease interventions, including TAVR, MitraClip, the Watchman procedure, and transcatheter closure of adult congenital heart defects like PFO, ASD and VSD; multimodality cardiovascular imaging, including 3D transesophageal echocardiography; nuclear stress testing; vascular ultrasound and peripheral vascular interventions.
Dr. Pervaiz earned his medical degree at King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. He came to the United States in 2003 and served for a year as a research associate for Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Ill. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing in 2010. Dr. Pervaiz also completed advanced fellowship training in interventional cardiology and endovascular interventions at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass. and a structural heart disease interventions fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich.
Dr. Pervaiz comes to Texas Health Heart and Vascular Specialists from Melbourne, Fla., where he served as Medical Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program at Holmes Regional Medical Center. Dr. Pervaiz also served as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine and received a Clinical Faculty of The Year Award in 2016. He currently serves on numerous regional and national committees through his involvement in many membership organizations.
