Bio
Dr. Alpesh Amin is a fellowship-trained cardiologist and heart failure physician. He is also board-certified in cardiology and heart failure. Dr. Amin has served as a clinical educator since 2001 and has been involved with the heart valve and MitraClip™ program at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas since 2019. Earlier in his career, he began serving as the medical director of the Heart Failure Clinic at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He also has served as associate medical director of Mechanical Circulatory Support at UT Southwestern since 2018.
Dr. Amin’s areas of clinical interest and focus include advanced heart failure disorders and heart attack, heart valve procedures, and extracorporeal circulation (ECMO) and other mechanical circulatory support. He earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine before completing an internal medicine residency at the Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minn. Dr, Amin completed his cardiology and heart failure/transplant fellowships at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City, Mo. During his final year in cardiology training, he served as chief fellow.
Dr. Amin is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He serves as a regional reviewer for the Heart Transplant Committee of the United Network of Organ Sharing. When not with his patients, Dr. Amin enjoys spending time with his family and coaching his children in soccer. He also is active on other committees and groups in cardiology, quality improvement and public health.
