Bio
Dr. Aref Obagi is a board-certified cardiologist with specialized training in interventional cardiology. He holds additional certification as a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) with expertise in ultrasound imaging (echocardiography), testing, and other diagnostic care.
Dr. Obagi currently serves as chair of the Internal Medicine and Cardiology Department and as director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Texas Health Heart and Vascular Hospital Arlington. He has been caring for North Texas hearts since 2022 with a focus on preventive cardiovascular medicine; lipid and cholesterol management; and the diagnosis and management of peripheral vascular disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, pulmonary embolism, and arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation). He is skilled in a variety of procedures, including radial and femoral heart catheterization, coronary and peripheral artery stenting, pericardiocentesis, thrombectomy, atherectomy, peripheral arterial stenting, minimally invasive left atrial appendage closure (Watchman insertion), and PFO/ASD closures.
Dr. Obagi earned his medical degree in Syria. He completed his internal medicine and general cardiology fellowship at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, N.J. He went on to complete his interventional cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville. Dr. Obagi is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Physicians, and American Heart Association.
