Bio
Sridevi Pitta, M.D., is an advanced fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist with clinical, research and teaching experience that spans the field of cardiovascular care. She is board-certified in numerous disciplines, including internal medicine, endovascular medicine, cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. In addition, she has advanced training as a registered physician in vascular interpretation and is Level II-certified through the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography.
Dr. Pitta’s areas of special focus are adult heart disease treatments, cardiac imaging and endovascular and transcatheter therapeutics, including balloon aortic and mitral valvuloplasty, PFO/ASD closure, mitral valve repair and left atrial appendage occlusion, with special emphasis on transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Her research interests include interventional cardiology, acute myocardial infarction and high-risk and understudied populations such as women. Her use of cardiovascular procedures runs the gamut from cardiac/coronary catheterization and thrombectomy to tandem heart mechanical support and venous ablation.
Dr. Pitta has worked in the field of cardiology since 2010, during which time she has been involved in multiple research studies as a clinical investigator. She previously served as medical director of the Cardiovascular Quality Council and STEMI Program and as Director of Cardiovascular Graduate Medical Education for Cox Health System in Springfield, Missouri. She is a graduate of Kurnool Medical College in India. She completed her internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship through Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Pitta is fellowship-trained in interventional cardiology and advanced adult cardiology. She received this training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She also earned her master’s in business administration from The University of Texas at Tyler while working as an associate professor in interventional cardiology at the school’s Health Science Center. She also served as medical director of the university hospital’s catheterization lab.
Dr. Pitta is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions (SCAI). Additionally, she is a member of the American Heart Association and American Medical Association. Dr. Pitta currently serves as a voting member for SCAI Structural Heart Disease Council and Women in Innovations Committee, and previously served as voting member of SCAI in various roles including the Political Action Committee, Professional Development Committee and the Interventional Cardiology Quality Improvement Committee. Dr. Pitta has been named a top interventional cardiologist by various organizations.
Dr. Pitta is a core faculty member of the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton Internal Medicine Residency Program. She has academic appointments at various universities, including her role as professor of medicine in the department of international medicine at the Burnett School of Medicine at TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. She also holds academic appointments as an associate professor of clinical medicine at the University of Missouri Health System and as adjunct associate professor of medicine at The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.
