Zachary Lawhorn Casto, MD Sports Medicine, Family Medicinein Melissa, TX

As both a physician and an athlete, Dr. Zachary Casto brings a unique perspective to orthopedic care and sports medicine - combining clinical and procedural skill with a deep understanding of the active individual's mindset and need for wellness. He is fellowship-trained in Primary Care Sports Medicine and completed an additional year in Primary Care Sports Medicine as a Chief Fellow.

Dr. Casto provides care for acute and chronic orthopedic injuries, concussion management, fracture care, and advanced orthobiologic treatments including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and experience with bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC) injection therapies. He is also experienced in the use of non-invasive extracorporeal shockwave therapy for orthopedic pain and injury management. He has cared for active individuals at many levels from high school and college teams to professional organizations. He has experience covering and/or training room experience with the NBA, NFL, Overtime Elite, and MLS Next.

Dr. Casto graduated with his medical degree from Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in Huntington, W.V. He completed his family medicine residency at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, before delving into sports medicine. He went on to complete his primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of Toledo, also in Ohio, and his primary care sports medicine chief fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.

Dr. Casto is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.
