Bio
Dr. Travis Frantz is an orthopedic surgeon fellowship-trained in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. As a former collegiate athlete in the sport of baseball, Dr. Frantz understands the desire for active individuals to return to their pre-injury level of activity and performance. He uses operative and non-operative techniques to treat all types of orthopedic conditions, from sports related injuries to arthritic degenerative changes and trauma. He specializes in less invasive arthroscopic techniques for the shoulder, knee, and elbow, as well as joint replacement of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Frantz’s expertise allows for the treatment of a wide range of conditions, from simple to complex revisions, in a compassionate and caring manner specific to each patient’s unique orthopedic issue.
In addition to his work as a skilled orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Frantz has provided physician coverage to sports teams at the high school, collegiate and professional levels, including the University of Minnesota football team, The Ohio State University basketball team, the Minnesota Twins MLB team and the Minnesota Wild NHL team. He previously served as an orthopedic surgeon at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colo., taking care of active-duty soldiers, veterans and their families.
Dr. Frantz earned his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency while attending The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. He completed his sports medicine and shoulder surgery fellowship at TRIA Orthopedic Center and the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Dr. Frantz is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America and Mid-America Orthopaedic Association.

May 2025Surgery was [...]. Everything healing as well as expected. I know with age everything usually takes a year to get full strength. But my belief Dr. Frantz did a find job to get me back to a normal routine. Therapy he recommended was good but was surprised by the turnover of the therapist there.
