Bio
Dr. Alyssa Mowrer is a dedicated physician and educator, specializing in General Surgery, Trauma, and Acute Care Surgery, with a strong focus on fostering the next generation of medical professionals. As an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Burnett School of Medicine at TCU and a Teaching Core Faculty Member for Texas Health Resources' General Surgery Residency, she is instrumental in shaping future surgeons through hands-on clinical instruction, curriculum development, and mentorship. Dr. Mowrer excels at facilitating small-group learning, providing detailed feedback, and guiding students and residents through complex clinical scenarios and surgical techniques.
Dr. Mowrer holds a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. After residency in General Surgery, she completed a Clinical Research Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery, caring for sick and injured children at a busy Level 1 Trauma Center. She was board-certified in 2021 and began her clinical practice as a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon at THR in 2023. Here, she provides comprehensive care to critically ill and injured patients, while also actively contributing to academic and clinical education, as well as quality improvement initiatives.
Dr. Mowrer uniquely demonstrates a commitment to patient-centered care, undergraduate and graduate medical education, and mentoring future medical providers. In addition to her clinical practice and education roles, she is currently obtaining a Master of Education in Healthcare Professions through Johns Hopkins University, allowing her to integrate real-world experience into academic settings.
