Matthew Scott Elson, MD Surgical Critical Care, General Surgeryin Dallas, TX

Dr. Matthew Elson, a DFW native, has focused his career on the care of critically ill surgical patients with traumatic injuries and sudden, potentially life-threatening, conditions. He is dual board-certified in general surgery and surgical critical care with additional fellowship training in trauma and acute care surgery. He uses minimally invasive laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic procedures for traumatic and emergent surgical conditions, hernia repair, and has additional training in critical care ultrasound.

Dr. Elson earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He completed his general surgery residency at UT Southwestern/ Parkland Memorial Hospital, also in Dallas. He completed additional fellowship training in surgical critical care/acute care surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, Mass. Dr. Elson served as a clinical instructor in Surgery at Harvard during this time. He became established again in North Texas in 2025.

Dr. Elson is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.
