Bio
Dr. Michael Truitt has served as an acute care and robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgeon in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 2007. He is board-certified in general surgery and fellowship-trained in surgical critical care with special clinical interests in burn/trauma surgery and gastrointestinal surgery. Dr. Truitt is considered a local and national pioneer in a number of procedural areas, including cryoablation for rib fractures, single incision and robotic surgery, and the development of a multi-level continuous intercostal nerve block for rib fractures. He has served as an ad hoc reviewer for various journals in the field of surgery and currently serves as associate editor for the American Journal of Surgery.
Dr. Truitt earned his medical degree at The University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Colorado in Denver and his surgical critical care fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. While at UT Southwestern, he also served as an assistant instructor in the Division of Burn, Trauma and Critical Care.
Dr. Truitt is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). He is active in numerous organizations, including the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, Association of Program Directors in Surgery, North Texas Chapter of the ACS, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, Southwestern Surgical Congress and Western Trauma Association.
