Bio
Dr. Lisa Ferrigno is a board-certified general surgeon with specialized training in surgical critical care. Her areas of special interest and focus include trauma and acute care surgery for sepsis, gastroenterological disorders, and blunt thoracic and brain injuries. She began her surgical career in 2008 serving as a clinical instructor in the areas of Surgery and Trauma Surgery at the University of California-San Francisco General Hospital. Most recently, Dr. Ferrigno served as an assistant professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora beginning in 2015. She has chaired the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma since 2018.
Dr. Ferrigno earned her medical degree from State University of New York School of Medicine in Brooklyn. She also holds a Master of Public Health with emphasis in infectious disease epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Ferrigno completed her general surgery residency at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where she served as chief resident during her final year. She went on to complete her surgical critical care fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Ferrigno is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Public Health Association, Association of Women Surgeons, Society for Critical Care Medicine, Surgical Infection Society and Western Trauma Association.
